About Clean Paws Diet

Clear, research-based answers about what dogs can eat, homemade treats, and everyday canine nutrition.

Clean Paws Diet is an independent dog nutrition publication. We help dog owners answer everyday feeding questions, from "Can my dog eat this?" to "How do I make a safe treat at home?", using clear language and trustworthy sources.

Feeding a dog has never been more confusing. Labels are full of marketing terms, social media is full of conflicting advice, and searching a simple question often returns pages written to sell rather than to inform. We started Clean Paws Diet to offer something calmer: practical guides that explain the facts, show where they come from, and are honest about what is not known.

What We Publish

Can Dogs Eat…?

Food-by-food safety guides with a clear verdict, preparation tips, portion guidance by dog size, and the risks to watch for.

Homemade Treats

Simple recipes made with dog-safe ingredients, with calories per treat, storage advice and safe ingredient swaps.

Nutrition & Health

Plain-English explainers on feeding, digestion and common behaviours, with a clear note on when to see a veterinarian.

Dog Food & Reviews

Guides to choosing food and products, based on published ingredient and nutrition information, never on paid placement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help dog owners make confident, informed feeding decisions, and to know when a question needs a veterinarian rather than an article. We avoid fear-based claims and "one diet fits all" thinking. Every dog is different, and our guides say so.

How We Create Content

  • Authoritative sources first. Safety information is checked against recognised references such as the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), AAFCO, WSAVA and peer-reviewed veterinary literature, and we link to those sources in our articles.
  • Fact-checked numbers. Portion sizes, calorie figures and toxicity information are checked before publication.
  • Kept up to date. We revisit articles when guidance changes or when readers report an issue, and we show the date each article was last updated.
  • Clear limits. Our content is educational. It does not replace advice from a veterinarian who has examined your dog.

You can read the full details in our Editorial Policy & Review Process.

Who We Are

Clean Paws Diet is run by a small, independent team of dog lovers and writers who publish under the CPD Nutrition Desk byline. We are not veterinarians, and we do not present ourselves as such. That is exactly why we rely on veterinary and regulatory sources, cite them openly, and encourage you to talk to your own vet about your dog's specific needs.

How We Are Funded

Clean Paws Diet is free to read. To keep it that way, we may earn money from advertising and from affiliate links, which pay us a commission when a reader buys through them, at no extra cost to the reader. Brands cannot pay to change our conclusions.
